Victor Victrola XVII

Victor Victrola model XVII in mahogany. If you're in the market for a Victrola, don't confuse the XVII with the run-of-mill Victrolas you may find proliferating on ebay or other venues. Introduced in 1916, the elegant Victrola XVII with bombe curves was designed to be Victor's top of the line Victrola with prices starting at $250. Because of the high price the XVII sold in relatively limited quantities and is very much esteemed by collectors. This example is working well and the genuine gold plating is very decent. The finish has some typical age crackling but isn't so deteriorated that you'd want to refinish it; a good cleaning and polishing should do wonders. The lower keyhole escutcheon is missing, but as a bonus it comes with a real Victrola key. Yes, you can go even more upscale and purchase a fancier Victrola such as an XVIII or an art case model but you'll pay thousand of dollars more for them. The XVII is good value for the price. $950
