Twelve inch Mira music box for sale

The Mira has always been considered by the collectors to be among the finest disc music boxes ever manufactured, if not the finest. I've heard people explain it this way: a Mira always sounds one size bigger than it is. A 12 inch Mira sounds like a 15 inch machine of some other brand, a 15 inch Mira sounds like an 18 inch machine, and so on.

This example, in an original finish mahogany case, came out of the collection of a well known collector/restorer in the midwest.

It's a double comb machine, and there is evidence it has had some restoration performed on it. The combs are clean, are in good regulation, and if you look very hard you can see that one tooth has been professionally replaced.

Cosmetically, it's had some modest work showing evidence of age. A split on one foot has been glued back together, and there is some old wood filler on one panel of the upper trim molding of the case.

The motor is running smoothly, the speed control is working properly, and the box is playing impressively, as you can hear on the youtube video below.
