18.5 inch console Mira music box with 39 discs for sale

The 18.5 inch console Mira is considered by many to be the finest disc music box ever made. Manufactured by Mermod Freres in Switzerland, it is renowned for its deep, resonant bass and brilliant tone.

This example is in excellent mechanical condition. The double combs are nice and clean, the leads show no oxidation, and the dampers are in regulation. The start/stop mechanism and automatic stop are working properly. The machine is yielding impressive, knock-your-socks-off sound.

The fancy mahogany case appears to have been refinished at one time. A small number of tiny veneer chips on the lid have been filled in; you wouldn't notice this unless it was pointed out to you.

Large Mira discs are relatively available; recuts were done in Europe at one time. But discs shouldn't even be a consideration with our Mira, we are including an incredible 39 original discs in very, very nice condition to fill up your cabinet storage.

I don't have an exact date for this model, but my best guess would be ca 1905, in line with the heyday for disc music boxes of this type.

It doesn't get any better than this in a music box. I would pay this machine the ultimate compliment: it sounds like a Mira.
