This cloth-covered portable employed a laminated paper horn fastened to the tip of the tone arm with a threaded securer. The horn folds up when not in use and is stored under a clip in the lid. Variations of this mechanism have appeared branded as a Brunswick Parisienne, a Guinessphone, and other names. When the horn is in good condition and tightly secured, this mechanism yields surprising fidelity.
