Mystery horn with brass fitting

This mystery brass bell horn is approximately 28" long with a 13 3/4" bell. It terminates in a brass end fitting which just pops snug onto the end, it doesn't screw or clip on. The end fitting itself has both a Columbia type button clip, and an end piece that looks as if it would be designed to connect to a cylinder phonograph. However, the brass endpiece is too large to accept a Columbia elbow, and the brass end fitting is larger than the standard 5/8" diameter that was used on cylinder phonographs. There is no hanger for a crane, nor any evidence that it ever had a clip for a crane, which leads one to believe that the horn was designed for a disc phonograph. The only marking on the horn is a Patent Applied For. We received this horn with some parts from a fancy Harvard talking machine, but I'm not yet convinced it went on some version of the Harvard. Ten points extra credit if you can correctly identify this horn. $350
