Swiss music box - Black Forest case

It's a little hard to describe this magnificent music box because in 35 years of collecting and dealing music boxes I have never seen anything like it. This large Swiss music box sits in a beautiful, ornate, heavily carved Black Forest type case that is so impressive it will leave you gasping for air. Not only are there stunning motifs, but the box also features heavily carved birds and animals rising in relief, including free-standing animals that extend some seven inches off the top of the case. Everything is right, real, and original, and there's no indication that this was ever anything but a music box case, so I'd guess it was a special order for a wealthy customer. The box contains an original movement with 11" cylinder which is playing and working well, and is in good condition with the dampers and such save for one broken treble tooth. Dimensions of the case are approximately 31" long by 12" by 16".
